A Citybus lost control and collided with a crash cushion and water-filled barriers on the West Kowloon Highway on Thursday afternoon, resulting in 22 people being hospitalized.
The incident occurred at approximately 12.27pm today, near the junction of Tsing Sha Highway close to the Hoi Lai Estate fork, as the bus was heading towards the airport.





The collision caused significant damage to the front of the bus and scattered debris around the area. Emergency responders, including the Rail and Railway Rescue Team dispatched by the fire department, arrived swiftly to assist the injured.
The injured included the bus driver, 10 men, and 12 women, one of whom was a young girl. Among them, 18 sustained minor injuries, while four were seriously injured. All victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
Due to the accident, the Transport Department announced closures on parts of the West Kowloon Highway heading towards Kwai Chung near Hoi Lai Estate. Additionally, the only lane on the Tsing Sha Highway branch road heading towards Stonecutters Bridge near Hoi Lai Estate will also be closed. Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes as the area is experiencing heavy congestion.
The Citybus spokesman stated that a Cityflyer bus operating on Route A22, en route to Hong Kong Airport, was involved in a road traffic collision. The incident occurred at the junction of West Kowloon Highway and Tsing Sha Highway. The bus driver and approximately 20 passengers sustained minor injuries, with some requiring hospitalization for further treatment.
Citybus acknowledges the traumatic nature of the incident for everyone involved and is committed to providing ongoing support and assistance. The company is collaborating closely with emergency services and the affected passengers. Furthermore, Citybus will actively cooperate with the Hong Kong Police Force to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
