The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced on Friday the grand reopening of two extensively renovated venues at Sha Tin Racecourse, Champion Circle and Inner Circle, aimed at enhancing the experience for race-goers. These venues, located on the third floor of Grandstand I and spanning 50,000 square feet, can now accommodate nearly 1,000 patrons combined.

The reopening of these venues is timely, coinciding with the city's push to promote horse racing tourism. It is expected to inject new energy into the racecourse, which hosted nearly one million visitors last season from Hong Kong, Mainland China, and abroad. The Inner Circle will welcome its first patrons, including numerous international tourists, on the Club’s flagship FWD Champions Day on April 27, a major event in the city for the second consecutive year. The Champion Circle will open its doors to the general public in early May.
Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Club’s chief executive officer, believes that the reopening of Champion Circle and Inner Circle will help promote horse racing tourism and bring customers an even more pleasant racecourse experience.
Dennis Hau, executive director of customer strategy, insights, and innovation at the Club, emphasized that the redesign of these venues was heavily influenced by customer feedback focusing on ambiance, space, and catering.“We hope the stylish interior, optimised layout, wide variety of seating combinations, and venue-specific and upgraded catering choices have all the boxes checked, taking our customers’ sporting and social entertainment experience, which is unique to the racecourse, to the next level,” he said.

The Champion Circle, with 800 seats, offers a 50 percent increase in space per customer and features nine different seating combinations. It boasts the longest venue-exclusive balconies at the racecourse, providing spectacular views of the Parade Ring and the tracks. The venue has transitioned from a-la-carte menus to a selection of enticing cuisine sets starting at HK$160. A special area within Champion Circle, the "Priority Zone," accommodates 76 seats where HKJC Priority Silver or above members can enjoy a meal and afternoon tea set for HK$200.
Adjacent to this, the Inner Circle serves as an exclusive retreat for HKJC Priority Black and Gold members. The venue has nearly doubled its capacity to 82 seats and offers a private balcony with a clear view of the Winning Post. A new private room that seats eight is also available for more intimate gatherings. Throughout the day, guests can indulge in a gourmet international buffet at reasonable prices.
The two venues will be open during all Sha Tin race meetings. Reservations for Champion Circle will open from today for May 4 onwards. Bookings for Priority Zone, available to HKJC Silver or above customers, and for Inner Circle, available to HKJC Priority Black and Gold customers, will commence today for May 25 onwards.
