The bus company revealed plans to transition to the new H3 and H4 routes starting March 17. These routes will include stops at major attractions such as Ocean Park, Repulse Bay, Stanley, and Kennedy Town Praya.
Citybus will operate 17 daily services on these routes, with final details still under discussion with the Transport Department.
Roger Ma Chim-wai, General Manager (Operations) at Citybus, highlighted the competitive pricing of the sightseeing routes, with a single trip fare set at HK$47.6.
He noted the excellent condition of the bus’s exterior and facilities, as well as an increase in passenger volume, underscoring the service's popularity.
Ma also explained that the new routes would navigate more mountainous and winding roads. To accommodate this, Citybus has designed shorter buses to better utilize the coastal and tourism resources, embodying the concept of "traveling everywhere."
Additionally, Citybus plans to distribute 500 ticket sets to Southern District residents, offering them unlimited rides on the panda-themed bus and other routes for 24 hours. This initiative aims to stimulate the local economy.
Ma further mentioned a 30 percent increase in passenger volume on the sightseeing bus routes last month, attributing this growth to the resumption of policies like the multiple-entry Individual Visit Scheme. He expressed optimism about the potential for revenue growth from these developments.
Citybus intends to continue investing in resources to leverage the "panda economy" and enhance its franchised bus services. The company remains committed to promoting its "hop-on hop-off" open-top bus service, contributing to tourism and economic development in the region.
