Sing Tao News Corporation held an award ceremony to honor the most commendable students on Saturday (Feb 15) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Over a hundred awarded students, along with their principals and teachers, attended the ceremony.
During his speech today, Sing Tao News Corporation chairman Karson Choi Ka-tsan stated that the event aimed to promote a culture of praise, inject more positive energy into Hong Kong, and collectively create a better Hong Kong.
He mentioned that up to 96 percent of surveyed citizens agree that praise can bridge the gap between people, bring happiness and inspiration, and boost self-confidence. He reminded everyone not to be stingy with praising others.
Alice Mak Mei-kuen, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs and one of the officiating guests, lauded the event for fostering positive thinking and values among young people and promoting a culture of appreciation within society.
She praised Sing Tao for its commitment to social responsibility, its efforts to nurture the next generation, and its positive impact on the community.
Additionally, she promoted the Youth Affairs Bureau's mobile App "HKYouth+", which provides up-to-date information on youth activities anytime, anywhere.
Secretary for Culture, Sports, and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, expressed her hope that young people will always harbor a heart of kindness and gratitude from a young age.
She highlighted that the government has always prioritized the mental and physical development of young people. Positive values and attitudes toward life can boost confidence in facing life's challenges and in unleashing potential.
Guest of the event, Kimbee Chan Hoi-wan, trustee of The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust and chief executive of Chinese Estates, expressed her appreciation for Sing Tao News Corporation taking the lead in organizing the event.
She noted that Hong Kong's unique fast-paced lifestyle often leaves little time for people to stop and truly appreciate and praise others. She emphasized that more praise could significantly contribute to mental health.
