According to social media comments, many vehicles flock to the port from 11 pm to 1 am, particularly on Friday and weekend nights.
Videos shared by netizens captured the incessant blaring of horns and severe traffic congestion around the port at night, disturbing residents living within 100 to 200 meters.
The Office of Port of Entry and Exit of Shenzhen government stated on Wednesday (Jan 22) that adjusting the port's opening hours falls under national policy, and the current operating hours have been approved.
Officials added that they will strengthen coordination with the Traffic Bureau to enhance control over vehicles that violate horn regulations.
It is believed the number of vehicles passing through the port will decrease in the future, effectively alleviating noise and other related issues, the Office said.
