A power outage occurred at the Hong Kong Observation Wheel in Central, resulting in over 200 people trapped. The power was restored shortly after, and all individuals were safely assisted back to the ground.
The incident occurred at around 5.17 pm. Police have set up a command post, and firefighters also rushed to the rescue.
Some of the trapped mainland tourists posted on social media asking for assistance, with someone shouting for help.
The power was restored after around half an hour. No injuries were reported.
The wheel stands at a total height of 60 meters and has 42 cabins that can hold eight passengers each. It has a maximum rotation speed of two meters per second, allowing each cabin to complete a full rotation in around 1.5 minutes, according to the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department.
