The Hong Kong Toilet Association named the Hoi Hing Road Public Toilet in Tsuen Wan as the best public toilet in the city on World Toilet Day (Nov 19), and revealed the four most in need of improvement.
The organization inspected around 300 public toilets across the city's 18 districts, evaluating them based on comfort, accessibility, safety, hygiene, management, and education.
Located on the waterfront, the Hoi Hing Road Public Toilet was uniquely designed in a well-lit circular shape, with drinking water facilities equipped for the public.
The Sunny Bay Public Toilet and Gascoigne Road Public Toilet received silver and bronze awards, respectively.
However, the public toilets at Tsuen Wan Market (ground floor), Yuen Long Children's Playground, and Tai Yuen Village were deemed to be in urgent need of improvement due to broken facilities and dirty stalls.
The Tai Kwun Public Toilet was also listed for its unclear signage.
Additionally, the Tai Yuen Village Public Toilet was listed as urgent for improvement in 2020, but never received any upgrades to date.
