The Transport and Logistics Bureau warned of peak traffic returning to Hong Kong via Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) from the mainland on the last day of the Chung Yeung Festival holiday, urging the residents to travel during off-peak hours.
According to the Zhuhai authorities, the rush hour for vehicles returning to Hong Kong via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge will start at 2 pm, with congestion expected from 4 pm onwards.
Travelers can check the real-time traffic conditions for the mega bridge from its official WeChat account.
The Immigration Department has recorded nearly 600,000 residents left the city on Friday (Oct 11), marking a 30 percent increase compared to last year.
Meanwhile, mainland authorities said that Huanggang and Futian ports in Shenzhen handled around 300,000 inbound and outbound passengers on the same day.
However, the number of inbound mainland visitors on Friday dropped nearly 50 percent to 56,000 compared to the previous Chung Yeung holiday.
