Members of the public will have the opportunity to explore various species of fragrant flowers at an exhibition starting September 20 (Friday) at the Forsgate Conservatory in Hong Kong Park, managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
These plants, known for their rich, pleasant, and refreshing scents, are commonly utilized in gardening and home greening.
The exhibition will feature a diverse collection of approximately 700 fragrant flowers, including Arabian jasmine, Orange-jessamine, Crepe jasmine, Kwai-fah, and Banana shrub.
Arabian jasmine, the national flower of the Philippines and Indonesia, is ideal for home cultivation. Its white, fragrant flowers are also used in tea making.
Orange-jessamine's white flowers emit a powerful fragrance and the plant is frequently used for hedges due to its resilience.
The refreshing scent of Crepe jasmine's white flowers makes it a favored choice for garden landscaping.
Kwai-fah, with its tiny yellowish-white flowers, offers a long-lasting and refreshing fragrance, making it popular for desserts, scented tea, and floral liqueurs.
The Banana shrub's pale yellow flowers exude a rich, banana-like perfume. The Chinese name of the plant translates to "wearing a smile," as the usually partially open flowers resemble a person with a shy and reserved smile.
In addition to showcasing over 40 species of fragrant flowers, display boards will be set up to introduce their characteristics, planting tips, and propagation methods.
Visitors are invited to attend the exhibition, which will be open to the public free of charge daily from 9 am to 5 pm from September 20 to October 31 at the Forsgate Conservatory of Hong Kong Park, located on 19 Cotton Tree Drive in Central.
