Two incidents involving wild boars disrupted traffic in Aberdeen on Saturday night, resulting in accidents that injured two drivers and led to the death of one boar.
The first incident occurred at 8.05 pm when a taxi, traveling along Aberdeen Praya Road towards Pok Fu Lam, had to brake suddenly upon spotting a wild boar on the road.
The following vehicle could not stop in time and collided with the rear of the taxi.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and blocked the road.
The wild boar involved fled the scene amidst the chaos.
The taxi drivers, surnamed Wong, 48, and Chan, 53, experienced head and neck pain and were transported to Queen Mary Hospital for medical attention.
Merely three minutes later, at 8.08 pm, another taxi, approximately 150 meters from the first accident site near Ocean Court on Aberdeen Praya Road, struck and killed a wild boar.
The 59-year-old taxi driver, surnamed Wu, alerted the police, who then coordinated with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department to retrieve the boar's body.
Additionally, police reports confirmed that later that evening, at 8.42 PM and 8.58 PM, there were further sightings of wild boars along Aberdeen Praya Road and Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road, respectively.
