Three additional medical facilities in Shenzhen will be covered under the government's Elderly Health Care Voucher Greater Bay Area Pilot Scheme starting tomorrow, including the dental services clinics.
Eligible elderly could use their HK$2,000 annual healthcare vouchers at designated medical institutions in the mainland.
Two of the newly covered institutions, Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital and Dental Bauhinia, are located in the Futian District near the Futian Port.
The third facility, Shenzhen C.K.J Stomatological Hospital, is a dental clinic in Luohu District which can be reached within a 5-minute walk from the Luohu Port.
The representative of the C.K.J group Rick Chan Wing-kay stated that the public healthcare system in Hong Kong does not provide comprehensive dental services. The expanded voucher scheme gives the elderly more choices in accessing quality healthcare services in Shenzhen.
The HKFTU noted that nearly 70 percent of the patients of Shenzhen dental services are elderly Hong Kong residents. They advised the elderly to pre-register using channels like WeChat, and to activate their "eHealth" accounts a few days before their visit to allow Shenzhen doctors to access their medical records.
