The total enrolments for the race will be the same as last year, with a quota of approximately 74,000 runners. Public ballot registration for runners will open next Wednesday (Aug 21) at 10 am and close on August 30 at 7 pm.
The full and half marathon courses remain unchanged, with both starting at Nathan Road Tsim Sha Tsui and finishing at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.
The 10-km racecourse will also be the same as last year, starting from the Island Eastern Corridor near Central-Wan Chai bypass and ending at Victoria Park.
However, it was also announced that the HK$10,000 "special incentive award" -- which used to be given to male runners who finish the full marathon in under three hours and for women who finish under three and a half hours -- will be lowered to HK$1,000 each.
The last two editions of the Marathon, where special incentive awards were increased to HK$10,000, showed that 51 local male runners and 66 local female runners had won the award in 2023, while 322 male runners and 124 female runners won the cash rewards this year.
