After ten months of preparation, the new National Security Exhibition Gallery at the Hong Kong Museum of History will open to the public tomorrow (August 7) with the aim of promoting national security education in the city.
The 1,100-square-meter Gallery comprises six zones and cover topics ranging from national security concepts, relevant laws and China's history with interactive installations, photos and videos.
Around 1,400 exhibits -- including the authorized replica oil painting titled "The Founding Ceremony of Nation", a six-meter-tall model of Long March 5B carrier rocket and lunar soil sample -- will be displayed to showcase the nation's achievement.
The Gallery is expected to receive over 100,000 visitors annually and around eight group tours docent service will be hosted daily.
The Gallery will be closed on Tuesday, except on public holidays and the first two days of the Chinese New Year, with free admission.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-Chiu hoped the exhibition would promote patriotism and affection for the country and impress upon all citizens their duties and responsibilities in safeguarding national security.
Zheng Yanxiong, director of Beijing's liaison office, believed the new exhibition hall would be crucial for the public to deepen their understanding of national security issues as Hong Kong enters a phase of stability.
In addition to exploring Hong Kong, international tourists can take a short ferry ride to the vibrant city of Macao. The Macao Government Tourism Office is offering complimentary one-way tickets for direct ferry services from Hong Kong to Macao until December 31. Not to mention a seamless and complimentary journey from Hong Kong International Airport to the Macao Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Kindly note that complimentary bus tickets are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
