Man arrested for HK$12,000 Jordan robbery

A man was bitten during a robbery in Jordan in early Monday morning, where over HK$12,000 worth of cash and valuables were stolen, and one alleged perpetrator was arrested. 

At about 1 am today, a man living on Nathan Road heard knocking at the door and went to investigate, seeing two non-Chinese men outside the door holding box cutters and trying to break into the unit. 

The 26-year-old victim attempted to prevent the thieves from entering the apartment, and a struggle ensued. 

He was bitten on the face and shoulders, they then robbed the man of his gold chain and cash. The thieves fled after completing their attack. 

Paramedics arrived at the scene, and the male victim, who suffered injuries to his face and shoulders, was conscious and sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.   

The police responded to the police report and intercepted a 28-year-old non-Chinese man in the back alley of a Jordan Road building near Battery Street. 

The police are investigating the incident and looking for the other thief's whereabouts. 

It is understood that the victim and the arrested person are both from Bangladesh and have temporary ID cards. 

The victim lost HK$2,000 in cash and a gold chain worth more than HK$10,000. 

Since the victim did not understand English or Cantonese, he called his friend to come to the scene and call the police on his behalf.   

After a preliminary investigation, the burglar was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and is currently being detained for investigation. 

The case was handed over to the Yau Tsim police district.
