Mother arrested for allegedly abandoning two-year-old daughter

A 31-year-old mother has been arrested for child abuse after she allegedly abandoned her two-year-old daughter at Sai Yee Street Children’s Playground in Mong Kok on Friday. 

Police said they received a report around 7 pm on Friday that a girl was found wandering the Mong Kok playground alone with no identity documents on her. 

The girl is about two years old. She is about 0.8 meters tall, 10 kilograms in weight and of medium build. She has a round face with a tanned complexion and long black hair. She was wearing a beige vest, light-blue shorts and pink sandals at the time. 

Police added that the girl sustained no apparent injuries and was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital for observation. 

The case was then passed to the Mong Kok district crime investigation team. 

After an in-depth investigation, officers arrested the girl’s 31-year-old mother in Mong Kok on Saturday for ill-treatment or neglect towards a child in her charge. 

The mother is currently remanded in custody.
