A 31-year-old cyclist died after she sustained severe injuries to her chest after crashing her bike into a drop barrier in a village near Tai Po when riding downhill.
The woman was found unconscious at around 7 pm on Sunday. Police investigation suspected that the woman lost control of her bicycle when riding down Tai Mei Tuk Road towards Tai Mei Tuk town center.
The unconscious 31-year-old woman of Indian descent was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital, where she was declared dead at around 8 pm after failed resuscitation attempts.
Police classified the case as a traffic accident with the New Territories North special traffic investigations team now looking into the case.
It is understood that there are clear signages at the scene reminding cyclists to dismount and push their bikes when riding on inclined roads.
