A flaming air conditioning unit fell from a flat of a Yau Ma Tei building and came crashing to the ground after a blaze broke out on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services received a call from residents living at Kam Wah Building at around 3.30 pm saying that one of the apartments in the building was on fire.
The Fire Services Department mobilized a breathing apparatus team with a water jet, and spent around an hour putting out the fire.
Over 100 residents were evacuated due to the fire. Firefighters also extracted three residents trapped on the rooftop.
Sources said one person at the scene complained of discomfort and required medical attention.
The Transport Department said part of the lanes of Waterloo Road (Ho Man Tin bound) near Canton Road is closed to all traffic due to the fire. At the same time, vehicles cannot make a left turn from Waterloo Road onto Canton Road.
