Opening ceremony of 2025 National Games to stage in Guangzhou

The 15th National Games, co-hosted in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, will be held in November 2025, with the opening ceremony to be staged in Guangzhou.

Zhu Xiaoyi, Deputy Secretary-General of Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, said the city will host 40 percent of the game’s events in 25 arenas, with some existing arenas set to undergo refurbishment to prepare them for the games.

He said experts from Hong Kong, including the design and construction team for the Kai Tak Sports Park, have been invited to make explorations in terms of future construction of sports venues in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau area, aiming to achieve green initiatives.
