Burst water pipe shuts down Yeung Uk Road

A burst water pipe caused parts of Yeung Uk Road to be closed off on Thursday afternoon.

Around 3 pm today, a salt water pipe located beneath the Yeung Uk Road in Tsuen Wan suddenly burst, with waters rising up to about 20 meters into the air and even shooting towards the outer walls of nearby buildings.

The burst caused the nearby paths to be filled with saltwater.

Police were alerted to the scene and contacted the Water Supplies Department for assistance.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Due to the incident, the traffic on-site was congested, with some lanes from the Yeung Uk Road towards the Texaco Road being closed off.
