HK mulls bonus-point system to encourage property management firms to report public housing abuse

The Housing Department is mulling to partner up with property management firms of public housing estates and introduce a bonus-point system to encourage tip-offs on suspected housing abuse.

Permanent Secretary for Housing and Director of Housing Rosanna Law Shuk-pui said the bonus-point system will enhance authorities’ efforts in combating public housing abuse and encourage proactive engagement from property management firms.

The new system will incentivize property management firms to pay more special attention during inspections to identify suspected violations or misuse of public housing, she said.

Law noted that should the reported cases be verified, the firms will receive bonus points, which will be beneficial for their future bidding on Housing Authority contracts.
