Around 8 p.m. yesterday (Jan 11), a 19-year-old girl named Mak knocked on the door when she returned home from work to her Lei Muk Shue Estate Lok Shue House apartment in Kwai Chung with no response.
She could smell something abnormal coming from the other side of the door and contacted the police.
Firefighters were alerted to the scene and broke down the door to enter, finding the girl's 46-year-old parents lying down next to a plate of burned charcoal.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that they were deceased after a medical examination.
The police investigating the incident initially believed that they had committed suicide due to financial issues.
The case was handed over to the Tsuen Wan police district for follow-up.
According to live sources, the officers were able to find multiple suicide letters in the bedroom where they were found deceased.
