Sino Group’s shopping malls all geared up to cheer Hong Kong athletes at the Asian Games

With the biggest ever contingent of Hong Kong athletes competing at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou from 23 Sep to 8 Oct, Sino Group is dedicated to cheering for our athletes together with the entire community, with the full support of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC).

Sino Group’s Olympian City has specially organised a fun program in support of the Games athletes, including an ‘Asian Games cheering station’ which was officially launched today (19 Sep) by Mr Kenneth Fok Kai Kong, Leader of the Hong Kong China delegation, and Ms Sarah Lee Wai Sze, Hong Kong’s multi-award cyclist, together with Hong Kong’s eSports team.

“Hong Kong has, in recent years, notched up an illustrious record in international sporting events. What is even more encouraging is that we are witnessing the emergence of successive generations of brilliant sportsmen and sportswomen,” Fok noted.

He pointed out that, aside from traditional sporting events, Hong Kong is also participating in newly-introduced urban sports events like breakdance and eSports which should appeal to the young and the young-at-heart.

“Last year, during the Tokyo Olympics, I was part of the enthusiastic crowd at the Olympian City live telecast where we witnessed Edgar Cheung Ka Long win our first-ever Olympic gold medal in fencing,” he reminisced. “The exhilarating scene has left an indelible impression in my mind to this day.”

Fok appealed to the public to once again demonstrate their support for our athletes by turning up for the HOYTV live broadcast on a huge TV screen at Olympian City, bringing the Asian Games spirit to a crescendo, and, at the same time, help activate our night economy.

Dual gold medallist at the last Asian Games, Sarah Lee has changed her role from a competing athlete to one of the hosts on the HOYTV broadcast. “As an athlete, I’m very happy to see the growing community support for our athletes; the added pressure helps us strive for even better results,” she said.

Sports enthusiasts should make a point of turning up at 7 pm for the warm-up session on the opening night of the Games on Saturday, 23 Sep at Olympian City to play games with TV hosts and sports celebrities to win big prizes, cheering packs and souvenirs.

An ‘Asian Games cheering station’ has been installed at the ground level of Olympian City Stage 2 until 8 Oct. Visitors can designate individual team or person to cheer on, and make a personal commitment to engage in sports, to qualify for discount vouchers of Olympian City shops. The bonus is your cheering message could be broadcast across Sino Group’s shopping malls.

During the Asian Games, Sino Group’s Olympian City, Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Citywalk and One North will broadcast live HOYTV Channel 77’s coverage of the events on giant screens in the mall, accompanied by free giveaways of cheering accessories and discount shopping vouchers. During night broadcasts between 6 to 10 pm, those who scan the AlipayHK QR code at the mall will receive consumption cash vouchers for a great night out!

In collaboration with ICBC (Asia), consumers spending up to prescribed levels at Sino Group’s shopping malls across town will receive up to HK$450 worth of S Cash Vouchers, and the chance to win coveted Asian Games souvenirs.
