Rainfall again triggers flooding in Tseung Kwan O, Kwun Tong

The Observatory said on Monday morning that rain was particularly heavy in Sai Kung district, with more than 100 millimeters of rainfall recorded in just one hour up to 10am.

The rainfall across the territory also caused flooding in Tsueng Kwan O and Kwun Tong.

At least five cases of flooding were reported within ten minutes this morning, as the city is still under the influence of heavy rains.

Authorities said they have received several reports of floods in Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O, with some people said to be trapped in vehicles.

A minibus broke down on Po Lam Road at around 9.57 am with five people trapped, while several vehicles also submerged on Po Hong Road.

The roads affected include Hiram's Highway, Wing Lai Road, Clear Water Bay Road, Ho Chung Road, and Tseung Kwan O Road.

According to the Transport Department, Kwun Tong Road and part of the lanes of Tseung Kwan O Road have been closed to all traffic.

At around 9.15 am, the floodwater poured into Tseung Kwan O Pui Chi School, leading to its playground being flooded.
