The first Department of Justice (DoJ) open day attracted over 100 participants on Thursday, with Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok answering questions during the function.
The "DoJ i-Day" was held by a group of young lawyers within the DoJ, which aimed to erase the arrogant image of lawyers by inviting and answering the queries of law students and other interested people.
They also invited members of the DoJ to introduce their everyday work and interesting experiences.
Both government and private lawyers were also invited to share their experiences and compare the differences in challenges and processes when working on the same case, establishing that no matter if they are private or government lawyers, they are still working together as well as showing their collaborative approach.
Since the open day was met with raving reviews, there will be another open day on September 12.
Lam states that the reviews are proof that many young people wish to enter the law world and believes that the interested individuals not only think the job is challenging but satisfying, they also believe that law is the foundation of Hong Kong and they could contribute to it.
