Elderly woman loses balance and tumbles down an escalator

An elderly woman was rushed to the hospital Thursday after falling backward and hitting her head on an escalator in Tai Po.

The woman was heading up to the Plover Cove Road Market via an escalator at around 3 pm when she lost her balance and fell with her trolley.

Witnesses immediately pressed the emergency stop to halt the escalator and rushed to her aid. 

She was lying upside down on the escalator's steps while some passersby reminded others not to move her neck.

The woman was taken to the hospital for medical attention by the paramedics. It was learned that she sustained minor injuries to her head.
