The Transportation Department revealed Wednesday that it had received complaints from drivers charged for HKeToll despite never having used it.
The free-flow tolling service implemented in the Tsing Sha Control Area on May 7 has recorded 160,000 vehicles using its service.
The TD said 34 complaints were received from motorists who have never used the HKeToll service but have been charged for it or suspected their license plate information was stolen to be registered for the service.
The Department will offer compensation for the complaints involving human errors, adding that there are four cases in total.
It also emphasized that HKeToll charged the toll fees through multiple authentication methods and will only use the license plate as recognition when the system cannot detect the vehicle tag.
