The cherry blossom trees planted by the Airport Authority along Chek Lap Kok South Road have drawn in crowds of snap-happy Hong Kongers who look forward to relishing the soft pink hues of the spring blossoms.

The Sakura trees, better known as Cherry Blossom trees, usually bloom from February at the earliest to May at the latest, filling the air with a rich scent and are a visual feast for the eyes.
The airport authority started the program to promote the beautification of the landscape at the airport in 2021 and planted various species of trees that bloom at different seasons of the year.
In 2021, the airport authority planted 10 cherry blooms trees on one side of the Chek Lap Kok South Road before extending the project to the other side with additional trees, now totaling 100.
The magnificent botanical display provides a delightful foreground, the majestic backdrop of the rocky peaks of Lantau and Ngong Ping.
In addition to the cherry blossom trees, the airport authority planted 260 golden trumpet trees, which are expected to flower in March.
Being just a 20-minute bus ride from Tung Chung town center, visitors are encouraged to use buses whose route numbers start with the letter E and should disembark at the Aviation Fuel Tank Farm. This less visually delighting facility goes to show why the Airport Authority is working on scenery with greenery.
