Registration for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon will open from 10am on November 15 till November 21 for marathon, half-marathon, and 10KM enthusiasts, the organizer announced on Tuesday.
Runners will be capped at 25,000, and those interested and aged 20 years old or above can apply through a public ballot on the marathon website.
Unlike last year, overseas elite athletes will be invited to run in this year’s flagship sporting event as Hong Kong gradually eases its Covid curbs for inbound travelers.
Traditional race routes will be adopted with both the 42km marathon and half-marathon starting on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, while the 10km race will begin at the Island Eastern Corridor, with all races finishing at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.
Anti-pandemic measures for the race will be the same as last year’s; runners are required to comply with the vaccination requirements under the Vaccine Pass - having received all three doses of the Covid vaccine.
Additionally, runners must have taken a Covid-19 nucleic acid test provided by the organizer before the race and undergo a rapid antigen test on race day.
