A private car crashed into two other vehicles after attempting to escape from police this morning on Tuen Mun Road, causing three people to be injured.
The incident occurred on Thursday at Kowloon-bound Tuen Mun Road near Cheung Shan Estate.
A video posted online shows a silver private car, which was suspectedly being chased by police at around 11:55am, driving in the reverse direction along the lane, after which it collides with two private cars near Tsuen King Circuit Flyover.
It was learned from a source that the silver car was earlier stopped by traffic officers who suspected it of having been involved in drug dealing, while the driver refused to be questioned and fled the scene in the vehicle, initiating a chase.
In the footage, the silver sedan was followed closely by the police car as it swerved and crossed into other lanes causing disorder on the road. When driving next to Cheung Shan Estate, the sedan suddenly made a sharp turn in an attempt to escape but hit the two other private cars.
Two drivers, including a 53-year-old woman and a male, were trapped inside their vehicles and freed by rescuers who rushed to the scene after the crash. Another man was also found injured, and the trio was sent to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
The Transport Department said that, due to the accident, parts of the lanes on the Kowloon-bound Tuen Mun Road near Yau Kom Tau Water Treatment Works were closed to all traffic.
Part of the affected section of the road was reopened to traffic at 15:20pm, but queues of vehicles still jam the street, the department said.
