Five injured in nine car pile-up on Tuen Muen road

Nine private cars and taxis were involved in a multi-vehicle crash this morning on the express line of Tuen Mun Road toward Kowloon, causing five people to be injured.  

The crash was reportedly due to the slippery road under the rainy weather when the accident occurred at 7:28am today.  

It was learned that five people, including a male driver, suffered minor injuries and were sent for treatment by ambulance.  

Before the tow truck arrived at the scene to take the vehicles involved away, Tuen Mun Road was blocked by a traffic jam.  

The Transport Department announced previously to temporarily close the round-trip section near Hong Kong Garden of Tuen Mun Road. However, it later said at 8:22am that the section of Tuen Mun Road towards Tuen Mun would reopen, while the section toward Kowloon was still not in operation.  

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
