On Thursday, a cab driver was killed in a head-on crash with a seven-seater driven by a rookie driver in Yuen Long.
The driver of the seven-seater has been arrested for drink driving.
At around 6.44 am, a taxi going along Kam Tin Road plowed into a seven-seater near the junction with Po Tei Rd in Kam Yin.
The cab crashed onto the pedestrian pavement after the collision. The fronts of both vehicles were seriously damaged.
Car camera footage suspected to be captured by the seven-seater in question showed that the car was driving fast in the direction of Pat Heung in Yuen Long when it suddenly lost control at a bend and crossed a line before hitting the cab.
The cab driver, who was a retired sergeant, was unconscious when being rescued. He was taken to Pok Oi Hospital and was certified dead there.
The seven-seater's 21-year-old male probationary license holder and a female taxi passenger were also injured and sent to the hospital. They were transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital later.
The Police Dog Unit assisted investigations.
