Bar Association council member Robin Gregory D'Souza has resigned late last month as the professional group faces increasing scrutiny from Beijing.

State media People’s Daily called the Bar Association a “street rat” and warned the Law Society not to follow its example.
With the Bar Association representing barristers put under intense scrutiny, people are distancing themselves from it.
According to Sing Tao Daily, the Standard's sister newspaper, senior counsel Jeremy Bartlett resigned as a council member in June. D'Souza decided to resign late last month with immediate effect.
Both of them are from Denis Chang's Chambers.
D'Souza became a practicing barrister in 2006. He was in Bar Association when Philip Dykes was Bar Association chairman.
D'Souza specializes in civil and commercial cases, particularly in the areas of corporate shareholder disputes, corporate contracts, trusts, and estates. He also acts as an arbitrator.
On Monday, Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng Yuek-wah called upon groups in legal sector to stick to their professional aspects and steer clear of politics.
