The 64-year-old campaigner, commonly known as “Grandma Wong,” was frequently spotted at protest venues where she would wave a large Union Jack.
Wong was charged with common assault for bumping a female security guard in the chest with her shoulder during a security check at the High Court in Admiralty on January 22, 2019.
Magistrate Edward Wong Ching-yu pointed out that the incident occurred at the court’s security check area, which the court needs to protect those who work in the court and the security guards who perform their duties.
The magistrate also ruled that the defendant intended to use force against the victim, with no evidence supporting that the defendant might have been acted in self-defense.
