Vehicle fire causes traffic jam in Eagle's Nest Tunnel

Shatin-bound traffic in Eagle's Nest Tunnel is at a standstill after a vehicle burst into flames inside the tunnel this morning.

At around 10.58am this morning, a medium-sized truck was caught on fire inside the tunnel while heading to Shatin.

Firefighters responded to the scene and put out the fire, no one was injured in the accident. Police are now investigating the cause of the fire.

The Transport Department announced at 11.47am that due to the fire, the slow lane of Eagle's Nest Tunnel (Shatin bound) is still closed to all traffic. Only the fast and middle lanes are still available to motorists.

Traffic is busy now, the department added.
