At least 16 confinees at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre developed symptoms of food poisoning, according to Tsuen Wan district councilor Chiu Yan-loy.
Chiu wrote on his Facebook that at least 16 residents from Block R of Allway Garden quarantined at the center displayed gastroenteritis symptoms including diarrhea yesterday morning.
The district councilor suspected it was caused by the food provided by authorities.
According to reports, the center yesterday night notified confinees that due to food hygiene issues, cup noodles will be provided instead of meal sets.
The Department of Health, while responding to media inquiries, said the food was provided by a food service distributor named “Danny Catering Service Limited.” Investigations are continuing.
