The Hong Kong International Airport handled 96,000 passengers and 9,870 flights last month, a year-on-year drop of 98.6 percent and 73.2 percent, respectively.

Cargo handled dropped by 7.3 percent to 372,000 tons compared with the same month last year. Cargo handled to and from Southeast Asia, mainland China and Europe experienced the most significant declines. Transshipments remained low due to a shortage of belly capacity on passenger flights.
As the demand for air cargo services remained relatively strong, freighter flights grew by 21 percent on year.
Exports and imports also increased by 7 percent and 4 percent respectively, compared with the same month last year.
Over the first seven months, the airport handled 8.4 million passengers and 104,000 flights, or year-on-year drops of 81.2 percent and 58.4 percent, respectively. Cargo handled fell by 9.7 percent to 2.4 million tons.
On a 12-month rolling basis, passengers and flights fell by 53.3 percent and 36.2 percent to 35 million and 273,940, respectively. Cargo handeld fell by 7.7 percent to 4.5 million tons.
