Student suspected of storing explosives given bail

The Fanling Magistrates' Courts today granted cash bail of HK$20,000 to an associate degree student, 19, accused of keeping an explosive substance, nitrocellulose, and smoke bombs at a mini storage in a Kwun Tong building on Hung To Road on December 24. He had been remanded for about two months.

His mother and a church social worker had also paid HK$170,000 and HK$10,000 respectively as surety.

The defendant was ordered to install two closed-circuit television cameras at his home for monitoring by police, report to a police station three times a week and not leave Hong Kong. The case will be heard again on April 9.
