The consumer watchdog has urged retailers not to hoard face masks and raise prices.
Eddy Tong Chi-chung, the deputy chief executive of the Consumer Council, said retailers should be socially responsible. He said the price of a mask now ranges from HK$1 to HK$3 and an N95 mask costs between HK$30 and HK$78. He also said people should not buy one face mask at a time because quality is compromised.
Tong said the council has recently received 11 complaints about face masks and two relate to quality.
