The MTR has made travel easier for the elderly and people with special needs through an MTR App with smart functions.More functions are expected in the second half of 2023, including a portable ramp booking service, a call-for-help function and operation status of station lifts.
Two inaugural functions are available: a simplified version of Trip Planner, which enables voice input of station names, and an in-station voice navigation function for the visually impaired, is on trial at Exhibition Centre Station.

MTR's general manager in marketing and customer experience, Annie Leung Ching-man, hopes the app can bring greater convenience to passengers with special needs, encouraging and facilitating them to travel with ease.
"Our development team has invited representatives of the visually impaired and elderly groups to participate in the design and trial of the app functions so that we understand more about their needs and work together for a more inclusive society," she said.
