The Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong said travel agents have immediately contacted groups departing tomorrow for Europe via Dubai transfer, instructing them not to go to the airport and to wait at home for updates.
Executive director Fanny Yeung Shuk-fan described the situation as chaotic, with agents still counting how many tours and passengers are impacted.
She noted the number is likely not in the hundreds and was fortunate that the Lunar New Year peak has passed, though many Eastern European groups are currently departing.
Travel agents will inform affected travelers of next steps once more information is available.
