Two computer-generated Mark Six tickets bought at separate betting branches ahead of the record HK$200 million Year of the Horse Snowball draw shared four matching numbers—including the striking consecutive sequence 5, 6, 11—sparking widespread amazement online.
A Threads user posted photos of the tickets on February 18, noting the improbable overlap: one entry was 5-6-11-28-29-44 and the other was 2-5-6-11-23-28, colliding on 5, 6, 11 and 28.
Online commenters were quick to spot that 5 + 6 equals 11, turning the shared trio into an unexpected arithmetic coincidence.
Reactions ranged from jokes hoping the buyer would not complain about luck if the numbers win to playful suggestions of following both sets to avoid letting the original poster win alone.
Some questioned why the machine favored lower-probability consecutive digits.
The extraordinary draw, the largest first-prize fund in the lottery’s 50-year history, takes place on February 21.
