Officers received a report at 6.41pm yesterday that a man had collapsed inside a village house in Tseng Tau Chung Tsuen. Upon arrival, they found the man, surnamed Chan, lying on a bed with serious head injuries and confirmed him dead at the scene.
Police later reclassified the case from “a person collapsed” to murder after preliminary investigations suggested he had been attacked with a blunt object. The case has been handed over to the Tuen Mun District Crime Squad.
Investigators later arrested the victim’s wife on suspicion of murder, believing she may have used a hard object to assault him. The motive has yet to be disclosed.
On Tuesday morning, the village house remained cordoned off as officers continued to collect evidence, including a search for a suspected weapon.
At around 10am, forensic workers entered the village and removed Chan’s body, which was sent to a mortuary for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

According to residents, Chan worked as a cleaner at a department store. Villagers said he and his wife had long been on poor terms, frequently arguing and often eating and sleeping separately. None expected the situation to end in tragedy.
A female neighbor said she had seen Chan earlier that day and noticed nothing unusual.
“I saw him come home at around 12.30pm. I went to the bathroom and saw him walking back,” she said.
Another villager said he witnessed police arresting Chan’s wife, adding that she was taken away with her head covered.
Police said Chan’s daughter had left home for school earlier in the day. She returned at around 6pm and found her father lying motionless on the bed. She then sought help from neighbors, who contacted the police.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information related to the case to contact investigators at 3661 5742.
