A staff member of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing a handbag and other items valued at more than HK$6,000 in Chai Wan.

The case was first mentioned at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on Tuesday morning.
The defense applied for an adjournment until April 13 to allow time to retrieve documents from the prosecution and to explore the possibility of resolving the case by other means.
The magistrate granted the application, and the 56-year-old defendant, surnamed Chan, was allowed to remain on bail of HK$5,000 on condition that she does not contact any witnesses.
According to the charge, the alleged theft took place on January 5 at the entrance of the Church Street Sitting-out Area.
The stolen handbag was said to contain a Hong Kong identity card, a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, a driver’s license, eight credit cards, an ATM card, HK$2,000 in cash, a massage gun, six keys, and four access cards.
The items, which belonged to a person surnamed Tang, had a total value of HK$6,250.
