Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu announced Hong Kong will formulate its own five-year plan for the first time to align with the nation's "15th Five-Year Plan."
In an interview with the media, the city leader said he will personally lead a cross-bureau and cross-departmental task force to coordinate the effort.
Lee said Hong Kong's plan will involve more detailed deployments in key development areas, aiming to coordinate with the nation's five-year, 10-year, and even longer-term strategies.
After the full text of the 15th Five-Year Plan is released during the Two Sessions in March, the government will proactively carry out a comprehensive alignment with the nation's overall development and the plans related to Hong Kong.

Lee noted that in addition to economic and financial goals, the plan will also involve many livelihood issues, including education, healthcare, housing, and youth development.
"This is the first time Hong Kong is undertaking this type of planning," Lee said, adding that he will listen extensively to the opinions of various sectors.
Furthermore, he said the government will turn its focus to more emerging markets and will prioritize visits to Eastern Europe and Central Asia, hoping to find "undiscovered gold mines" for Hong Kong enterprises.
He added that a trade mission he led last year to Kuwait and Qatar is already yielding results, with large investment projects being successively implemented.
