The two arrested South Asian men are 25 and 26 years old respectively. One is a Hong Kong identity card holder, while the other holds a "going-out pass." Both are reported to be unemployed.
Police are currently investigating their motives, and they will later be charged with "criminal damage" and "arson."
There is no evidence to suggest the case involves land acquisition or triads.
The two separate fires were a major blaze at an open-air car park in Po Tong Ha and a fire Wo Tin Estate. A total of at least eight vehicles were destroyed.
