Floral Impressions: An Urban Chronicle exhibition explores Wyndham Street’s blooming history

Delve into the evolution of Wyndham Street, which transformed from a hub for floral vendors to a bustling center of the printing industry in the mid-19th century, at the upcoming exhibition “Floral Impressions: An Urban Chronicle,” presented by Wyndham Social.

In collaboration with local creative brand ditto ditto and the Consulate General of Czechia in Hong Kong, the exhibition brings to life the rich narratives of this iconic street in Central through stunning hand-drawn illustrations and modern letterpress printing, all centered around the theme of “flowers.”

Local illustrator and co-founder of ditto ditto, Nicole P.S. Chan, will breathe new life into Wyndham Street’s printing legacy through her use of modern letterpress printing.

Meanwhile, Czech illustrator Michal Bačák will delicately recreate scenes of floral and botanical exchanges from East to West, enriched by his own floral illustrations inspired by Czech cultural heritage.

Together, the artists have created a striking 4-meter by 2-meter wallpaper illustration that reimagines the fusion of culture, botany, and identity on the iconic Central street.

Marking the launch of the Year of Czech Art in Hong Kong 2026, the exhibition includes live on-site illustrations where flowers represent the city’s resilience, diversit,y and creativity.

A special pop-up store offers tactile Hong Kong-themed letterpress products and limited-edition artworks by both artists.

On the first three Saturdays, visitors can join interactive artist talks and hands-on letterpress workshops. Nicole P.S. Chan will discuss turning illustrations into printed items, while Michal Bačák will share insights into his collaborative artistic process.

Participants will learn traditional letterpress techniques, create their own postcards, and craft personalized Fai Chun for Chinese New Year using classic methods.
