A 60-year-old investment company owner who vanished on Tuesday was discovered alive in Pok Fu Lam Reservoir on Saturday morning.
The man, surnamed Li, was last seen by his 43-year-old girlfriend, surnamed Cheung, at their residence around 11.50am on December 30 (Tue).
Cheung, who lives in mainland China and visits Hong Kong every two months, said Li left home claiming he had errands to run. The couple had arranged to meet at 5pm that day in Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Around 3pm, Li sent a text message postponing the rendezvous to 10am the next morning. That was his final communication.
When he failed to show up, Cheung searched unsuccessfully and alerted police. Security camera footage revealed Li entering the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir area shortly before 1pm on Tuesday.
Concerned for his safety, authorities launched an extensive search yesterday, deploying police, firefighters with diving units, the Civil Aid Service, and the Government Flying Service, which provided helicopter support. The operation continued overnight.
At approximately 7am this morning, Government Flying Service personnel spotted Li in the reservoir and airlifted him to Eastern District Hospital for medical treatment.
