A hit-and-run driver fled the scene after causing a chain collision on Yuen Long Highway on Tuesday night, leaving a couple injured and prompting the victim to release dashcam footage to help track down the suspect.
The incident occurred around 10.32pm near Tan Kwai Tsuen as the victim's private car was traveling in the fast lane towards Hung Shui Kiu. A Toyota seven-seater vehicle from the middle lane suddenly swerved right, appearing to avoid another vehicle changing lanes, and slammed into the victim's car.
The seven-seater then lost control, crashed into the right railing, rebounded across all three lanes, and smashed into the left railing, kicking up dust. A concrete mixer truck in the slow lane managed to brake in time, preventing a more serious pile-up.
The seven-seater briefly stopped after the impact but then accelerated and fled the scene.
The 27-year-old male driver and 25-year-old female passenger in the victim's car sustained shoulder and neck injuries and were taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
Police have classified the case as a hit-and-run. The Yuen Long district traffic accident investigation team is handling the case. No arrests have been made. The victim appealed on social media for any witnesses or drivers who may have recorded the seven-seater's escape route or license plate number.
