A high-speed pursuit in the New Territories on Saturday morning saw a white Lexus evade three police cars, perform a 180-degree U-turn, eject a passenger onto the road, and crash into a gate before the driver and occupants were arrested.
The incident began around 9.30am yesterday when a motorist reported a hit-and-run in Sheung Shui's Sun Hong Street.
Police spotted the fleeing white Lexus and gave chase along Man Kam To Road.
Near Kong Nga Po Road, despite being boxed in by three flashing patrol cars, the driver executed a sharp U-turn, throwing the 36-year-old front-seat passenger out of the vehicle.
The man narrowly avoided being run over as the Lexus squeezed through a gap and sped away. Officers quickly detained the fallen passenger.
The car later collided with a medium goods vehicle but continued fleeing.
The chase ended on Ping Che Road near Wun Chuen Sin Koon when the Lexus crashed into a gate and became stuck. Police arrested the 42-year-old driver and a 43-year-old rear passenger. No one was injured.
Searches revealed suspected drugs on the driver, who was also driving while disqualified, and suspected drug paraphernalia on the rear passenger.
The ejected front passenger was arrested for failing to produce identification.
The driver faces charges of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and possession of dangerous drugs, while the others face related offenses.
The Boundary District police is handling the case.
