Two brothers, aged 67 and 59, were found dead in a suspected suicide at a unit in Un Lok House, Un Chau Estate in Cheung Sha Wan on Tuesday morning (Nov 11).
A security guard noticed unusual odors coming from the flat around 6am during a routine patrol and alerted police after repeated knocking went unanswered. Firefighters forced open the door, and paramedics confirmed both men were deceased.
The deceased, surnamed Yeung, were the second and third brothers in their family and lived together in the flat, while their eldest brother resides in Shenzhen.
Three suicide notes were recovered from the flat, believed to have been written by the two men. Sources said the elder brother had reportedly refused food and water since late October, while the younger brother allegedly ingested 40 antipyretic pills on November 6, leaving a note requesting his elder brother to handle his affairs after death. The younger brother was also known to have had previous suicidal tendencies.
Police interviewed neighbors, some of whom said they had not seen the brothers since last Christmas. No disputes were reported in the flat.
The case remains under police investigation.
